Better Ways to Use Your Dining Room
Homes typically still come with dining rooms whether it’s an eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, or a designated dining section in an open layout. My question for you is, how often do you actually take the time to eat at the dining table?
Often times dining tables become catch alls for unopened mail and everything else you want to avoid. So before you spend hundreds on a dining room set you’ll never eat at consider these alternatives that may better suit your lifestyle.
Office
Having a designated office space is essential if you work from home. Even if your job doesn’t require you to work from home, it’s great to have a specific space for reading, budgeting, or researching.
Meditation Room
Unwinding should always be a priority. Setting aside a space free from clutter will allow you to focus and expand your mind when you need some genuine me time.
Guest Space
Most families would love to have a separate space just for guests to reside. This isn’t always practical. Combining your guest space with a den or office allows you to create a more usable space than a dining room. Adding a day bed or a pull-out sofa will also allow the room to serve more purpose than just a bedroom.
Hobby/ Craft Room
Hiding all your materials in plastic bins to only have to painstakingly drag them out anytime you get a new idea is completely unnecessary. Instead of burying your dining table in glue and sequins and fabric, go ahead and designate a space for crafting and creativity.
Playroom
Toys! Toys! Toys! Often strewn about living spaces, a playroom will give you all the storage space to place all those blocks and dolls. And when it gets untidy, it’s supposed to look that way. It’s a playroom. While the rest of your house can remain spotless.
Dressing Room
If fashion is really your life, why not transform your dining room to be a grown up dress up room. Especially if you’re lacking a walk-in closet. Having an entire room makes planning outfits so much simpler when you can actually see everything you own. Just be wary of how much direct sunlight is getting to your garments if your room has windows.
