On Trend
Since becoming a real estate agent, I’ve toured countless homes. One of the things people always think about with being a realtor is that you get to tour beautiful homes and see interior décor all the time. And that is certainly a part of the job. So today I wanted to share with y’all the top 5 design trends I’ve been seeing around town.
1. Light Fixtures
The perfect chandelier can set the mood and design theme for a room and really add a vertical focal point. Don’t settle for builder grade lights. You deserve more.
2. Kitchen Island as Focal Point
All white kitchens are maintaining their staying power. They really let the choice of material shine and make a wonderful canvas for any accent colors. But to jazz things up a bit, contrasting islands act as a wonderful way to add character.
3. Whole House Color Themes
While previously in design, colors and moods often changed from room to room. Presently, however there is a trend towards choosing one color palette for an entire home and simply shifting the focal color from room to room to have a cohesive home.
In the example below you can see the color palette centers around white, blue, and orange, while all the rooms still have their own identity.
4. Wood Paneling
Oh ship lap. You see it everywhere. But you’ll also see bead board, wainscoting, board and batten. All of these architectural elements are a great way to add texture and visual interest to a room. And can be seen as more timeless than the 5th and final addition to the list.
5. Wallpaper
Wallpaper is back on trend people. With tons of modern patterns, colors, and finishes to choose from; wallpaper is no longer reserved for Grandma’s house.
