Happy Fall Y’all!

Warning this is absolutely a conversational blog post disguised as a recipe. When I woke up today I had zero intentions of cooking apples and even less intentions of posting on my blog. I’ve wanted to post something, anything every day for the last 3 months at least. There are so many exciting things that I want to share. DIYs I want to create. Stories I want to tell. Tutorials I want to fail and triumph and tell you how to succeed.

I’ve been constrained by fear and laziness. It takes much less time to do anything when you don’t need to stop for pictures and record every step. And there’s so much fear in being vulnerable enough to share yourself with the whole of the interwebs. The only way to push forward is to leap. So here we are, as I share a very simple fall feeling dessert, cooked apples.

My mother cooked apples often when I was growing up. They are super simple and involve very little added sugar which makes them a great treat for little ones. Essentially you are cooking your apples and making a light apple syrup all at once. So delicious! Look below for the specific of how I cook my apples. And I’ll even tell you my secret ingredient… cardamom.

Ingredients

  • 5 apples (peeled, sliced, cored)

  • 1/2 stick of butter

  • 1/3 cup of sugar

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cardamom

  • pinch of salt

1.     Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan over medium-low heat. Cover and simmer until soft to a fork approximately 15 minutes.

I told you it was simple! Exactly what you need to fill you with feelings of fall.
