Happy Friday! I want to share with y’all a few of my favorite things. This does not include raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens, but instead I’ll be sharing my favorite places, things, and resources in Charleston, SC.

Today I want to share one of my favorite resources. This one might be a little obvious, but just the other day I was chatting with one of my friends about it and she had no idea that this even existed. So today’s favorite thing is: Charleston City Paper.

And I’m not talking about the Post and Courier. (Which is also a great resource and you should absolutely support local news publications.) But Charleston City Paper is a print and online publication that focuses primarily on keeping up with the various scenes in Charleston: food, art, music, and politics. It’s my absolute favorite way to stay in the know. Whenever someone is coming to visit, the first thing I do is get on Charleston City Paper to see what cool events are going on, festivals are happening, or just live music events to check out.

One of my favorite features of the Charleston City Paper is their annual “Best Of” list. They list out the best bars, restaurants, dentists, churches, and much more. It’s a great starting point if you’re new to the city and need a guide of what to check out first.

My second favorite feature is a portion of their Event Calendar. More specifically the option of seeing what’s going on Today. I’m a last minute person by nature, that’s just who I am. So being able to plan my night at 5pm on a Thursday is such a great tool.

I hope you’ll check it out to see all their great features. I’ve linked everything in the article. If you already love the Charleston City Paper as much as I do, let me know below.
